portland LPG fryer - no thermostat ?

Portland LPG fryer. Heats up the oil, but thermostat is not working, hence the temperature needs to be monitored. This should be abe to be rectified, hence the cheap price. This is over 800 when bought new. A thoroughbred in LPG fryers
